Starting the Journey

If you are an aspiring game developer, you might have experienced the excitement of starting your first project. The initial designs are often filled with enthusiasm and creativity. However, as development progresses, you may realize that some early design choices need to be revisited and improved.

I have read many articles and watched countless videos about not going back constantly to improve features as you learn more and more.I found myself hesitant to go back and change things I had already implemented because of what i read, the fear of breaking something or wasting time held me back.

In the end my instincts took over

It was hard for me to accept that there are things i can improve and ignore them so i try to distinguish between what works and what needs to be revisited.

Its part of the process to learn and improve, and i realized that going back to improve my early designs was not a waste of time but an essential part of the development process. I learned that iteration and refactoring are crucial for creating a polished and enjoyable game.

I embraced the idea of revisiting my early designs and making necessary improvements. This not only enhanced the overall quality of my game but also allowed me to learn from my mistakes and grow as a developer.

Looking Ahead

The best strategy is to plan ahead and anticipate potential issues, but also to be flexible and willing to adapt as you learn more about your game and its mechanics. By embracing iteration and refactoring, you can create a more enjoyable and polished experience for your players.

Its also important to remember that game development is not a 1 recipee fits all process, and what works for one project may not work for another. The key is to be open to learning and improving, and to always strive for the best possible outcome.
